The Next Generation of Digital Game-Changers
While it is a cliché to say so, the pace of digital business change really is accelerating. Hardware and communications technology continues to improve exponentially, with information processing now embedded into virtually every field, discipline and activity. The result is ever-more powerful business and societal platforms and ever-more novel combinations of applications and services. ‘Higher order systems’ built on top of services such as mobility, social media, cloud computing, biometrics, and the like will assure an increasingly generative and exciting future.
In this project, we will assess the business and technology innovations that we think will have the most impact over the next five years. As others have observed, we tend to think of the ‘developed world’ as being just that - Developed. Nothing could be further from the truth, as the real information technology and scientific revolution is only now beginning to unfold. This next wave of technology change will shape the environment in which Enterprise IT must fulfill its mission and determine its future.
