This project will examine how firms around the world are reacting to the growing IT literacy and capability of their employees. The goal is to find effective ways of managing employees so that they are productive and not frustrated. Key issues we will look at include:
- How should we segment users to take advantage of their new skills?
- How can we diagnose and fill the gaps in their education?
- How can we selectively loosen the rules when the government is tightening the regulatory requirements?
- How can we incrementally trust, but verify, that they have been responsible?
- How can we take advantage of personally owned equipment while maintaining security?
- How do we give employees frameworks for choice along with empowerment?
- How do we encourage innovation, but ensure that it aligns with corporate direction and delivers economic value?
