This project will be based on 400 telephone interviews with CXO-level executives in the US, UK France, Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordic region. The goal of the survey is to understand current business attitudes towards IT and to compare them to the views of CIOs and other IT leaders. The project will ultimately quantify how much IT really matters to large organizations.

The survey covers many critical IT issues including: the overall importance of IT, the relative importance of key IT issues, areas of IT success and failure, attitudes towards IT spending, organization and web management patterns, infrastructure and application development strategies, and the use of new technologies. The results of all 25 questions will be compiled into a single report.

The interviews will be conducted in November and December, with results coming out early in the new year. We envisage that this project will be conducted annually to systematically identify important trends in the evolution of corporate IT usage.
