Chris Turner was appointed VP Strategy and Planning and Chief Technology Officer for Unilever IT in 2008, which is a widening of his previous role as Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Chris is responsible for a number of areas including IT Strategy, IT Communications, Architecture and Technology, IT Security and Compliance as well as the Programme and Portfolio offices across the Group.
Chris has spent 26 years with Unilever initially in Finance where he undertook a variety of core Finance and Strategy roles. Since 1996, Chris has undertaken a number of major IT roles starting with responsibility for the provision of IT applications to Unilever’s customer management function globally. Chris established the architecture function as a line organization including the necessary governance, working practices and reporting structures to signpost the changes in the IT landscape and to deliver the results to the business before taking on the wider remit of Chief Technology Officer in 2004.
Chris holds a First Class Honours degree in Business Computing from City University, London and is also a qualified accountant.
